thanks alot.I have 2 friends (brothers)one is into Sahm tornadoes ec, the other not at all.Of course the guy who never even heard of them meets the TT at a hotel in Cali.They are getting along having a good time and some band member mentions they are in the TT.he says sorry he never heard of them or freddy or doug!they invite him to the show and they leave half way through, didn't really like it much.He's tellin the story to his brother while laughing was saying you never heard mendicino, she's about a mover wasted days & wasted nights.never heard of em.

doug is legendary here in san antonio (his hometown). Doug along with flaco jimenez (san antonio native also), augie meyers (also san antonio native) and freddy fender (san benito, tx native) comprised the Tornados. these guys could do it all, play virtually every music genre imaginable, write all original material, sing, as well as play multiple instruments. Dylan was asked in a rolling stone interview who was his very favorite musician to which he replied DOUG SAHM.
if anyone has anymore TT or Sir Douglas Quintet or just Doug, please post it here! i already have this dvd and believe me you will enjoy it. |

My Freddy Fender story; in 1985 my dad calls me and says he wants me to take a ride with him, so he picks me up and we take off up north hwy 69 we get to Marion Indiana stop at this truckstop get out walk behind the building and there's an old bus he walks up and knocks on the door and Freddy opens the door and invites us in. We shot the shit for a good hour then my dad pulls out his wallet and gives freddy $1000. We get back in the car and I'm like WTF my dad says his bus broke down and he didnt have the money to get to the next show. A couple months later he sent my dad a check. A very nice man RIP
