hi all,

This set was upped on DaD a while ago by uptight (thanks!); I pulled it down maybe a week or so ago. As you'll see in the original notes (below), not only did Scorpio (whose work I generally like) put some tracks out of order to fit them on single cd's, which is annoying enough, they also failed to split two of the tracks on Disc 1 (especially off-pissing when one of the songs is supposed to go BETWEEN the unsplit files). I've taken the liberty of splitting those files from Disc 1 here and placing them in a separate folder, brilliantly titled "Disc 1 SPLIT TRACKS." If you got this from DaD and want the lovingingly split tracks, those are all you need to DL. I've left the other tracks in their maddeningly unsplit form so no VUBT purists out there can whine about md5's not hashing or fingerprints not matching or whatever VUBT purists like to whine about. Me, i just wanna hear these songs in the right f*cking order. Now I can. And so can you.

This set compiles 4 audience recordings of Velvet Underground shows at the Boston Tea Party in 1969.

January 10, March 13, and July 11 are from the famous 'Professor' reels (two others exist: December 12, 1968 at The Boston Tea Party, and August 2, 1969 at Hilltop Festival).

March 15 is also known as "The Guitar Amp Tape".

"Move Right In" on disc 2 is from January 10 recording and should be placed between "Heroin" and "I'm Set Free".

"Candy Says" on disc 4 is from March 15 recording and should be placed between "I Can't Stand It" and "Waiting For The Man".

Despite the back cover reads otherwise, disc 1 has actually 9 tracks (no track separation between "Heroin" and "I'm Set Free, same between "What Goes On" and "I Can't Stand It"), and disc 4 has 11 tracks (track 1 "Intro" is not listed).

MY COMMENTS:

I know I said in the "Searchin for My Mainline" torrent ,which I seeded a week ago or so, that it was probably the best VU boxset. Well I wasn't lying I just forgot to say it was the best COMPILATION, meaning demos, interviews, alt takes etc.. boxset. This ONE really is the best or the most exciting collection of live velvets you'll ever hear. Disc 3 is the Legendary Guitar Amp Tape concert, where the imaginative taper plugged his mic wires into Lou Reeds' guitar amp and the results are unique. Layer after layer of white noise feedback concludes with a jawdropping Sister Ray. IMHO only a very few Coltrane recordings ever surpassed this recording. I got this from the velvets torrent site http://www.velvetunderground.be
So a big thank you to the original uploader brmc69 there. The only change I've made is to add the st5 print files to each of the folders otherwise it's as I got it.
